Four elements emerge in the picture that make up the composition of the picture: A tree trunk emerges diagonally from the water from the bottom left and lies on a voluminous tree stump from which several root veins protrude. To the left and right of it you can see two torsos of tree branches. The surfaces of the wood are faded from the sun and salt water. This phenomenon is taken up in the title of the picture: “Pallens” means something like “pale,…
pale”. This process of change in nature comes into its own thanks to the light and dark contrasts. Plastic effects are created. The date and signature of the artist are on the back of the canvas.
