About this artwork
Painted wood work.
Representation of the livery of butterfly wings distributed continuously on four sides, it is painted in oil and acrylic on a beech wood parallelepiped.
The butterfly as an emblem of the ephemeral: form and content complement each other in an abstract synthesis. I tried to represent a butterfly through a part of the livery of its wings, working by subtraction rather than by accumulation, giving value to the lightness of the emptied… forms. As in all synthesis operations, useless excesses are not allowed, so the cleanliness of the sign allows you to clearly grasp the content and get to the essence. The void left by matter is filled with meaning. According to Herman Hesse “The butterfly is an emblem of both the ephemeral and the eternal. It is the symbol of the soul”.
