About this artwork
The work is inspired by a form present in nature, especially in the animal world. It is a slightly flattened spherical sculpture made of wood (essence: walnut) and has a core of wire and non-woven fabric.
Assembly of (American) walnut sheets joined and superimposed to form a structure that resembles a dermaskeleton. The dermaskeleton is a skeleton formed by calcareous plates typical of sea urchins and other molluscs which serves as protection, also… very similar to the shells of some insects.
Minimalist representation of two concepts: the perfection that nature offers and the importance of a shield that offers protection from fragility.

Norma Carminati is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist based in Italy whose works have been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions nationally.
