About this artwork
This original stone wall sculpture is one of the latest artworks of the talented Bulgarian contemporary professional sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, expressionism and fantasy. The artwork represents one of the dwarf characters from J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. Óin was the older brother of Glóin, cousin of Dwalin and Balin, and uncle of Gimli. He joined with Thorin and Company on the quest…
to reclaim the Lonely Mountain.
The artist's concept is to melt the artwork's stones at high degree temperatures, reaching the point where they melt, going back to their origin magma state and then slowly cooled down. This way the artist restarts the formation of the stone material and brings it naturally back to a new organic wall art shape and name it after one of Tolkien's fantasy characters.

« Sculpture is my main way of thinking, my method of communication, my way of living... »
Ognyan Chitakov is an established Bulgarian sculptor whose works have featured in national prizes and exhibitions. He loves sculpture for all the elements it allows him to gather together: form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and - above all - art. He primarily produces stone works that carry ancient and sacred connections, and whose scale ranges from the modest to the monumental.
