About this artwork
This original granite sculpture is a recent work by the contemporary Bulgarian sculptor Ognyan Chitakov. He carves this stone sculpture to capture raw, organic energy frozen in time. Its bold, jagged forms express strength and resilience, while the metal supports add a dynamic tension between nature and structure. This piece radiates grounded power and invites reflection, transforming any indoor or outdoor space into a haven of primal beauty and…
contemplation.
In the Roman foundation myth, the she-wolf was an Italian wolf who nursed and sheltered the twins Romulus and Remus. She cared for the infants at her den, a cave known as the Lupercal, until they were discovered by a shepherd, Faustulus. Romulus would later become the founder and first king of Rome and both twins became famous throughout history as the founders of the Rome known today.

« Sculpture is my main way of thinking, my method of communication, my way of living... »
Ognyan Chitakov is an established Bulgarian sculptor whose works have featured in national prizes and exhibitions. He loves sculpture for all the elements it allows him to gather together: form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and - above all - art. He primarily produces stone works that carry ancient and sacred connections, and whose scale ranges from the modest to the monumental.
