This large original sculpture on stainless steel pedestal is handcrafted by the national famous contemporary sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, abstractionism and art deco. The unique art object is made from army tanks' optical periscope glasses, hand painted and reflecting the light. It has an authentic natural charm, mixed with the unique artistic signature. All of the tank optical periscope glasses are from the period… of the Cold War. They were manufactured in Bulgaria in the 1970's. The artist's concept is to turn something that wasn't meant to be art and was created to destroy into something beautiful and giving new life and light. The matter of arrangement. This exquisite valuable art object is one extraordinary mixed media masterpiece and exquisite modern home décor.
« Sculpture is my main way of thinking, my method of communication, my way of living... »
Ognyan Chitakov is an established Bulgarian sculptor whose works have featured in national prizes and exhibitions. He loves sculpture for all the elements it allows him to gather together: form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and - above all - art. He primarily produces stone works that carry ancient and sacred connections, and whose scale ranges from the modest to the monumental.
