As in many professions, to make a real series, you need several pieces!
This work is part of a series of colorful Pop Art pieces, deliberately raw and satirical, taking a critical look at our governments, their effectiveness and certain political choices that I perceive as absurd, inconsistent or totally disconnected from reality.
Through characters from popular culture, bright colors and deliberately provocative humor, I seek to transform political… criticism into a visual scene that is funny, absurd and disturbing.
The work thus operates on several levels of interpretation, blending Pop Art, political satire, humor, and social critique. Behind its apparent lightness lies a far less innocent vision of our society and those who govern it.
Those who can understand will understand!

Michael Oks primarily uses acrylics, brushes, and markers, drawing on a background that began in graffiti and continued at the Beaux-Arts and then in visual communication.
