I constantly get inspired by the young male face. I specially love interesting light situations and especially skin colours. I like a sensually opened mouth, a dreamy eyes, a gentle neck bend, a careless forelock, a bashful color… in cheeks ...
Picturing something on my canvas, I take it into my soul. Therefore, I draw only what I consider very beautiful, what I want to possess. Once I took a piece of something beautiful for myself, I could not stop. I’m not sure I’ll ever get enough.

Oleksandr Balbyshev is an experienced Ukrainian painter who has exhibited his work nationally. Male sexuality and sensuality are the most important themes in his art, and he uses the human figure to explore worlds within worlds. He additionally reinterprets iconic symbols of the USSR, including modified portraits of Lenin and other Soviet leaders that have since been banned in the Ukraine. Balbyshev ultimately achieves an artistic aesthetic marked by powerful pops of color, mystical surrealist elements, decorative qualities of kitsch and absurd aspects reminiscent of dadaism.
