About this artwork
Returning home to a friend in the London suburbs after a visit to the Dulwich Picture Gallery, I paused at London Bridge to make a train connection. But as I stepped onto the platform, the city revealed something extraordinary. A storm was gathering, and the light—reflected across the Thames—was glowing, shifting, alive. I left the station and spent hours watching. This painting was born from that moment.
Reflections of the City captures that electric… hush just before rain—the city glimmering under a dark sky, its lights melting into the water like memory. The Shard rises like a modern monument, illuminated and solemn, while the bridge hums with color and quiet movement. Painted with textured strokes and layered reflection, this work is both a portrait of London and a dream of it—a city not just seen, but deeply felt.
