About this artwork
There’s something about a perfect reflection on the water that just makes you want to skip a rock or dive into it, to see the reflection dance and then settle back to a perfect mirror image of the world above. This painting captures Bow lake and the Crowfoot Glacier peeking out from behind the foreground mountain. Of course it would not have been complete without that distinct turquoise colour in the water that is so iconic of Bow Lake. I would not…
actually recommend diving in, as the same glaciers that you see all around the lake supply their icy water to it, but perhaps I could suggest a paddle in a canoe?

« My art is about capturing a place. When I paint, I feel like I am there, and that is what I want to translate to the viewer. »
Growing up in the Ukraine, Olga Rybalko was fascinated by a promenade where artists would showcase their work, and was particularly drawn to the marine landscapes. Immigrating to Canada at 13 presented new opportunities for travel and inspiration. Rybalko presents her landscapes in an impressionistic, abstract style, layering oils over acrylic. The results are sublime landscapes, clearly inspired by her love of the outdoors.
