About this artwork
This scene looked so idyllic, it was hard to believe that it was real. A cabin in the mountains which provides a rest stop for hikers and, coincidentally, the red roof gives the scene a vibrant pop of colour. To top it all off, there’s Mt. Assiniboine in the background beckoning you to come and explore what lies beyond this alpine meadow.

« My art is about capturing a place. When I paint, I feel like I am there, and that is what I want to translate to the viewer. »
Growing up in the Ukraine, Olga Rybalko was fascinated by a promenade where artists would showcase their work, and was particularly drawn to the marine landscapes. Immigrating to Canada at 13 presented new opportunities for travel and inspiration. Rybalko presents her landscapes in an impressionistic, abstract style, layering oils over acrylic. The results are sublime landscapes, clearly inspired by her love of the outdoors.
