About this artwork
This is a scene from Owen Point along the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island in BC. It's one of the most amazing stretches of coastline in the Pacific Northwest, and it was a privilege to be able to hike the trail over 8 days back in 2018.

« My art is about capturing a place. When I paint, I feel like I am there, and that is what I want to translate to the viewer. »
Growing up in the Ukraine, Olga Rybalko was fascinated by a promenade where artists would showcase their work, and was particularly drawn to the marine landscapes. Immigrating to Canada at 13 presented new opportunities for travel and inspiration. Rybalko presents her landscapes in an impressionistic, abstract style, layering oils over acrylic. The results are sublime landscapes, clearly inspired by her love of the outdoors.
