About this artwork
In The Fisherman and the Dog, I wanted to capture that silent moment that exists between man, animal, and the sea. The fisherman remains motionless as he watches his dog, who gazes intently at the horizon as if sensing the exact spot to cast his line. The scene speaks of intuition, complicity, and trust, of that almost ancestral connection that arises between them before the immensity of the landscape.
The orange sunset envelops the entire composition,… transforming the sea into an emotional space rather than a real one. The intense blues of the water contrast with the warm light of the sky, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. The splashes, lines, and painterly gestures lend movement and spontaneity, as if the wind and foam were also part of the scene.
I wasn't interested in simply depicting a day of fishing, but in conveying a feeling of calm, waiting, and freedom.
