About this artwork
In focus are three women who represent all the women that had a major effect on my life.
These were not demure, ‘nice’ girls - represented by the woman (bottom right) who is shackled by expectations of old social views; they were women, with heart, beauty, skills, and ambition. My relationship with each was unique in its own way, whether it was the way we lived, held hands, worked, the promises kept and promises broken.
The figure in the Venetian… mask represents me as a man in these relationships. Those that worked, those that didn’t, those that evolved and those that are forever frozen in a loop, each one has had an effect and marked my own life in different ways.
The flower is a small homage to Georgia O’Keefe who will be forever a reference point of Art and female sexuality in a visual context.
