About this artwork
I created this work using acrylic, approaching an abstract style that captures the duality between calm and storm. The brush strokes and the mix of deep blues with greys and whites reflect deep and varied emotions, inviting the viewer to a serene yet dynamic introspection. Oscar Alvarez Pardo is an experienced Spanish painter with international exposure. Composing acrylic and watercolor works on paper, he stylistically switches between the realistic and fantastical whilst maintaining an emotional narrative line in each piece. Inspired by Edward Hopper and Steve Hanks, he represents themes such as tenderness, romance and loneliness with equal parts observational sensitivity and nostalgic cheekiness.
