About this artwork
"Afterbirth Nanoprogramming Machine" is a monumental-scale work that confronts the traumatic collision between biology, memory, and technological intervention.
Painted in 2021, the piece narrates the devastating experience of Mary, whose forced connection to the 'mother machine' negates the natural birth process, resulting in the loss of her twins.
The canvas acts as the memory's battlefield. The narrative is made visible through the execution:… the sedation and forced connection to the nanoprogramming machine, and the mother's subsequent rejection of the inert bodies. Mary’s desperate cry—“What have you done with my babies?”—and her eventual diagnosis of a psychotic outbreak, transform the canvas into a space of institutional anguish and altered truth.
The vast scale demands the viewer's immersion in this drama. The technical execution, rich in graphite and enamel over the acrylic base, uses raw materials to convey the coldness of the clinical institution.
