About this artwork
Painting in which I created the imaginary portrait of Saint Francis of Assisi when, in his gray/brown woolen robe, he received the sacred stigmata on Mount La Verna (September 15, 1224). The sacredness of the moment exudes in a glow of light that radiates intensely and delicately in the painting through the chromatic imprint of his habit. This, also reverberating in the expression of His face, describes his features, allowing His strong personality,…
extreme sweetness, purity of soul that formed the backdrop to his aura of mystery and kindness, in disarming simplicity, to emerge. I explored the depth of expressionism and realism to express his emotional and spiritual intensity. With oil I created a portrait that speaks of introspection and premonition, playing with soft tones and lights that accentuate contemplation and serenity. This painting is not just a visual observation, but an invitation to reflect on one's own experiences and inner beliefs.

Paola Imposimato is an award-winning painter and draftsman whose works have been extensively exhibited throughout her native Italy, as well as in Austria and France. She defines her artistic style as "contemporary Renaissance", as it has a solid figurative base that is also structured on Greco-Roman art. Imposimato is often inspired by portraiture (of real and imaginary characters), the range of human emotions, poetry, historical re-enactments, the world of music and theater.
