About this artwork
The work belongs to the Segno e Suono Series; in the creative process I explored the emotions evoked by the music of Monk, one of the most eclectic jazz masters. The singularity of his musical phrases, precise and at the same time evocative, almost bordering on dissonance, projected me into a unique dimension that only he knew how to generate. This pushed me to create a material work, using different materials and only partially outlining his figure,…
as if he were an entity in another world, almost abstractly concretizing his instrument and the musical gesture during improvisation, through the use of more solid and fluid materials such as resins and paints.
