About this artwork
Birba is a bronze sculpture conceived as a variation on Tobia, maintaining its circular structure but generating a new numerical sequence. The seemingly chaotic numbers intertwine in a rhythmic vortex that alludes to the uninterrupted flow of thoughts and time. The transparent black patina enhances the volumes and restores depth to the material, revealing iridescent reflections that change with the light. The work, the 285th in the conceptual project…
From “0” to Infinity, is part of a research in which each digit becomes an element of a universal language, simultaneously rigorous and poetic. Birba transforms the space with its dynamic presence, inviting the viewer to question the hidden meaning of numerical sequences and their ability to describe life as a constantly evolving structure.

Paolo Grassi is a Swiss conceptual artist, author of the project “From '0' to Infinity”, which since 2007 has explored the language of numbers as an art form.
Each work is a unique and unrepeatable “Element”, part of an infinite narrative made of different materials, techniques and meanings.
The artist considers his research as a “hymn to the energy of numbers and their ability to generate invisible connections between people”.
His works range from sculpture to painting, from performance to installation.
“I seek the balance between order and chaos, between mathematical rationality and creative impulse,” says Grassi, for whom “even a single fragment can contain the entire universe.” Over 285 works already created are now distributed in public and private collections.
Each new creation is an invitation to reflect on time, identity and infinity.
