About this artwork
In Spiral Morse Sequence – 5961–5964
A four-digit progression is transcribed into an image using the numeric Morse code.
The dots and lines of each digit become pictorial signs, arranged in a spiral that proceeds from the center outwards.
The reading follows the trajectory of the spiral, while the bronze acts as a units marker and separates one number from the next.
The structure is constant and rigorous: regularity, breadth and measure determine… the visual harmony of the whole, while the chromatic variations generate a controlled vibration.
The grid is precise, with regular spaces and calibrated air margins, but the rhythm of the signs transforms the arrhythmic sequence into visual time. The work combines system and energy: a writing that doesn't show numbers, yet makes them felt.
A museum version measuring 200x200 cm has also been made.
Further details on the compositional logic and decoding scheme are available exclusively upon confidential request.
« With an innate passion for conceptual art, aesthetics, and the harmony of forms and the ingenuity to solve intricate creative situations. »
Paolo Grassi is a Swiss conceptual artist, author of the project “From '0' to Infinity”, which since 2007 has explored the language of numbers as an art form.
Each work is a unique and unrepeatable “Element”, part of an infinite narrative made of different materials, techniques and meanings.
The artist considers his research as a “hymn to the energy of numbers and their ability to generate invisible connections between people”.
His works range from sculpture to painting, from performance to installation.
“I seek the balance between order and chaos, between mathematical rationality and creative impulse,” says Grassi, for whom “even a single fragment can contain the entire universe.” Over 285 works already created are now distributed in public and private collections.
Each new creation is an invitation to reflect on time, identity and infinity.
