Bread and games
It is Juvenal, author of the Satyrs around 100-125 who is the author of this expression "of bread and games". If we take up his text, he says, in Latin of course: "Nam qui dabat olim imperium saces, legiones omnia nunt se ontinet, atque duas tantum res anxius optat panen, & circenfes" which is translated in 1681 by La Valterie as (pp. 153-154) “The people who formerly made emperors, consuls, tribunes, in fact on whom all things… depended, are too happy today to have bread, and at most they only want bread. shows ”(pp. 153-154). A people who are too happy to have bread and only want a spectacle. It was a way, for Juvénal, to make fun of the people who no longer had any other preoccupation than the spectacle, the entertainment and no longer cared about the life of the city, of politics. The circus show to satisfy the plebs without having to justify the emperor's decisions.

« Painting starts from so little, like trees. »
Pascal Vochelet is an experienced French artist. After studying architecture and plastic arts, he continued his research and quickly showed his work. After the birth of his first daughter, he met the 55Bellechasse gallery and his painting was shown internationally. The post-covid period will also mark a turning point in his artistic activity: he will devote his creative time to theater companies. He now works with the companies Kartoffeln, Anima Théatre, le Cri du Sonotone. and Soleil Rouge. Here, on singulart, he takes a poetic, humorous and free look at our modern world. His work is present in many private collections
