Pascale Cormouls, a self-taught painter, defines herself as a painter of emotion. She draws inspiration from external reality to transcribe an emotional journey.
I am not influenced by any school and do not seek to belong to any movement. I want to remain free in my painting. My inspiration can be drawn from my inner emotional feelings, however, I find it largely in nature.
I am not trying to reproduce it faithfully but to reveal the beauty of the materials, the textures, the passage of time, what it seems to want to tell us.
Some of my works originated from pareidolia, an illusion that leads one to recognize a familiar shape in a cloud or smoke. For me, I find familiar figures in trees, trunks, and stumps.
This pareidolia nourishes my gaze and my imagination
I explore my own emotions, while leaving room for each viewer's personal interpretation.
