About this artwork
In this work, I wanted to capture raw power and inner transformation through flashes and dazzling contrasts. I wanted to take up the theme of metempsychosis by presenting a sort of dragon transforming into a human. Each burst of light bursts forth like new energy, symbolizing rebirth within chaos. Patrice Bru is a self-taught artist who trained in figurative oil painting at a very early age.
For many years he produced paintings of landscapes, still lifes, flowers, etc. Until 2019, a period coinciding with his retirement from active life and his irrepressible desire to embark on abstract painting.
This abstract style, which he considers a revelation, now occupies most of his time, with occasional breaks into portraits on request or figurative paintings.
This attraction to abstraction leads him to use techniques that aim to take the viewer on a personal journey.
