« I try to subvert the traditional or classical concept of beauty to delve into the aesthetics of spectrality or opacity. »
Patricio Bruna is a painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in Chile whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Argentina and Peru. He describes the themes in his art as
crittiquing the patriarchy and machismo that suffocates the majority of societies, especially women and social minorities. In addition, Bruna also questions the traditional concept of beauty. His figurative abstractions are created using oils, acrylics, watercolors, and charcoal on canvas, wood, cardboard, and paper.
