This painting starts a new series of smaller works based on previous ideas (minimal shapes/colors) that incorporate the new idea of transparency. The title "Incubation" comes from the song of the same name by Joy Division, but incubation is a place where new ideas germinate. Please enjoy the work and others are on their way.

Patrick Schmidt is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and in Italy. Principally inspired by Op art, he believes that color changes our moods and that colors and patterns alter our identities. Schmidt describes his vivid works as hard-edge color fields with a digital sensibility that explores the language of geometric abstraction.
