About this artwork
For the paintings composition, he started the a micro (tiny) section of an older painting. By stretching, distorting and layering (another image overtop) an interesting composition emerged. Essentially the composition come out of an older painting and thus relates to my original idea of patterns as identity. believe that color is timeless, aggressive, frenzied, and moody, and shows us who we are. Color is elusive, logical, and scientific and manipulates our perception of space and depth. Enjoy this and all my work.

Patrick Schmidt is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and in Italy. Principally inspired by Op art, he believes that color changes our moods and that colors and patterns alter our identities. Schmidt describes his vivid works as hard-edge color fields with a digital sensibility that explores the language of geometric abstraction.
