About this artwork
As with all the paintings in this section, the composition was developed from a small segment of a previous painting. Color plays a major roll in my work and I am always searching for more ways to represent the world around me through color. The process of hardedge geometric abstraction takes discipline and patience. Two things I never thought of when thinking about myself, but here I am. Patrick Schmidt is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally and in Italy. Principally inspired by Op art, he believes that color changes our moods and that colors and patterns alter our identities. Schmidt describes his vivid works as hard-edge color fields with a digital sensibility that explores the language of geometric abstraction.
