About this artwork
This work continues the current mode in which I am working A sculptural framework in sheet metal, with burst of colour and at least one kinetic element. The edges of the sculpture define space in the same way that a line drawing does.
The main body of the sculpture has a brush textured finish, blue grey in colour , and this contrasts with the high lacquer finishes of the coloured elements. Edition3/4
I often refence the ocean and its life forms… . Two unusual creatures of the deep have a chance encounter...... .

« Abstract sculptures tickle the imagination; a viewer may remark, "It reminds me of..." »
Paul Stein is an established South African sculptor who first discovered the magic and power of art as a child, when he was captivated by the photos his father would project onto a screen through Kodachrome slides. Despite the majority of his works carrying an abstract style, he draws heavily on life as we know it, shaping his sculptures to reflect the human spirit and allowing imagination to fill in the rest. His overall body of work is defined by curves and sweeping forms.
