About this artwork
“So Sad” reveals an ancient primordial being, emerging from billions of years ago with a face drained of color — pale, worn, almost translucent against soft shades of white and subtle blue. Its dark, sorrowful eyes stare outward, filled with confusion and quiet despair. Around them lie the fading traces of what was once a vibrant red mane — now only remnants of former glory.
This cosmic creature is lost. Perhaps abandoned by its tribe, perhaps cast… into a world no longer its own. It wanders without direction, struggling to understand what has changed — and whether it still belongs. Yet within its sadness lies a fragile spark of hope, a reminder that even the most ancient life can rediscover its strength.
“So Sad” stands as a powerful metaphor for our modern human condition. Have we drifted too far from our origin? Do we still possess the vitality to regenerate hope? Or are we slowly becoming like this being — “So Sad,” is a deeply metaphysical work!
Peer, a self-taught Dutch painter, uses vibrant, colorful mediums to explore humanity’s ancient origins and environmental themes. His dynamic style draws inspiration from the Abiogenis (the fascinating start of of our beautiful planet and the start of life on earth) and the shared connections of life, employing bold, striking colors, strong conceptual and metaphysical and evocative titles that amplify each work’s narrative. He strives to bridge our disconnection from nature and each other, infusing his pieces with a powerful call to reconnect and remember our shared beginnings. After years of successfully working as a CEO in a big strategic communication and design agency in Amsterdam, Peer just starte his career as The New Dutch Painter. He is aiming for international success and soon move form Amsterdam to New York. Click here to watch Peer's trilling movie 'Peer | From Amsterdam to New York': https://youtu.be/6BZpqP_n8eU
