“Memories in Acrylic Light,” is a 37.5 x 37.5-inch painting (including frame). This is my second acrylic exploration of Monet’s water lilies, inspired by a memorable workshop many years ago where I was told by the instructor, Gale Bennet, Monet himself might have used acrylics had he worked today. With this piece, I wanted to build on that idea—honoring… tradition while letting the vibrant qualities of acrylic paint lead the way, offering a quiet pause, a chance to imagine how the light dances in a moment caught between memory and presence.
Rendered entirely in acrylic, this piece explores the fluidity and luminosity the medium offers, bringing a fresh perspective to a beloved motif. The process echoes a thoughtful dialogue through contemporary technique and personal interpretation. It captures not only the beauty of nature but also the fleeting sensation of light and movement.
« Art making is challenging as is life in general. The difference between the two is that the art maker gets to control the outcome. »
