About this artwork
Think fiery red and orange willow-like branches playfully dangling above a cool, dreamy cluster of blue and purple lily pads. Below, thick green grasses and water plants crowd the scene, adding texture and depth. This is my third round with water lilies, all inspired by Monet’s garden—one of my favorite places to get lost in paint and memories. This time, I really pushed the colors to their limits, letting the acrylics sing with boldness. It’s like… a lively conversation between warm flames and cool waters. This choice suggests not just a representation of nature, but an interpretation colored by feeling and memory-a vivid recollection rather than a pure observation. I can’t help but wonder—if Monet had acrylics at his fingertips, would he have cranked up the color this much too?
« Art making is challenging as is life in general. The difference between the two is that the art maker gets to control the outcome. »
