About this artwork
Glowing wagon? A realistic object in an otherwise abstract image? In his painting the artist has the agreement with himself to allow what wants to show itself. When this formation emerged in the pastose layers of paint, he was surprised himself and forced to accept it. The lower layer painting contrasts with the upper impasto layers of paint in the picture. One thinks of Hieronymus Bosch, pictures where all kinds of strange characters do absurd things,…
although here, in Backhaus' picture, nothing representational can be seen.

« My art is uncompromising and direct. It is unique in its poetic, musical expression. The heart is its abode. It connects with the soul's longing for freedom, co-creation and participatory commitment. »
Peter Backhaus is an award-winning artist based in Sweden whose paitnings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, and China.
