About this artwork
This work has a long history behind it. Within more than two years it was repeatedly changed, painted over, scratched, attacked again. The sense and the meaning did not want to show. Impasto layers and structures were created that are reminiscent of classic layered painting. Rembrandt was also one of the artist's most important teachers. Only when the Swedish word "död", dead, appeared in the lower right corner, it became clear what this was about.

Peter Backhaus is an award-winning artist based in Sweden whose paitnings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Luxembourg, Germany, Denmark, and China. He describes his works as being created in a space that lies between "intellectual thinking and uncontrolled instinct". Backhaus' refers to his compositions as inner pictures with no purpose, where "total silence and total chaos co-exist".
