About this artwork
This is a cold wax mixed media painting on a high quality canvas frame. It is based on Peter's recent artist residency in the New Forest in Hampshire. He spent a number of days walking deep into the heart of the forest and gathering information for a series of paintings through drawing and photography. He absorbed the poetry of the ancient trees, the sights and sounds of the forest and found a way to represent that experience in these highly tactile…

Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
