About this artwork
One of a new series of paintings continuing and extending Peter's interest in less conventional art materials. He has drawn inspiration from the rawness of the natural Fenland landscape, to create rich abstract paintings that fuse tar, bitumen, hessian, oil paint and cold wax medium. Peter's approach is gradually becoming more instinctive and physical, often working on the floor, scraping, dissolving and burning materials until an unpredictable transformation…
takes place. When the resulting image surprises and engages, he has found a resolution.

« I believe passionately in the power of art to transform both ourselves, the way we think about the world, and the environment in which we live. »
Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
