About this artwork
This is a landscape painting and forms part of a minimalist series by Peter Corr in which he explores our relationship with the natural environment. You can see in this work a reduction of landscape to a schematic grid or recurring structure. The underlying geometry of the painting reflects the influence of man on the natural world and is a visual distillation of the impact of systematic control on land and nature. Irregularities of surface, line…
and texture disrupt this overriding sense of order and begin to hint at the possibilities for rewilding and restoration... holding out the possibility of working in harmony with the land.

« I believe passionately in the power of art to transform both ourselves, the way we think about the world, and the environment in which we live. »
Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
