About this artwork
This painting is based on a well known deep water lake called 'Roswell Pit', located on the edge of the City of Ely in Cambridgeshire. Peter Corr has used acrylic paint and glazing medium to achieve a sense of rich luminosity and translucency. There are elements of both Surrealism and Impressionism in the depiction of the subject matter and use of overlapping brush-strokes in the expanse of intense blue colour.

Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color.
