About this artwork
This is a multi-layered mixed media oil painting on a high-quality canvas frame. This painting represents the development of Peter Corr's New Forest series and continues my engagement with nature and land. The surface consists of multiple layers of oil and cold wax, with marked impasto and textural qualities.
The gold paint has a soft patina and mirrors elements of the colour and tones of the immediate environment. Gold leaf has been applied selectively… to some of the vertical forms and provides intense points of golden reflective light.
The abstract nature of the work reflects the process of growth, flowering and renewal.
Please note that the appearance of iridescent paint changes quite significantly depending on the angle of view and the light conditions. The subtlety of these effects is difficult to convey in photographs and the painting will inevitably change and transform with the prevailing light.

« I believe passionately in the power of art to transform both ourselves, the way we think about the world, and the environment in which we live. »
Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
