About this artwork
Water Reeds are a special feature of the dykes and lodes found here in the Cambridgeshire Fenlands. They have a mesmerising and hypnotic quality as they form rhythmic patterns just below the surface of the water. This painting echoes this slow-motion using fluid oil paint and a variety of mark-making tools. The twists and turns of the reeds are replicated in the swirls of paint and the illusion of structure is created through the manipulation of…
translucent and opaque strokes.

« I believe passionately in the power of art to transform both ourselves, the way we think about the world, and the environment in which we live. »
Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
