About this artwork
This is a richly textured minimalist oil painting on a high quality deep edged canvas. White River is a visual and tactile response to the reflections seen in the waterways and rivers of the Cambridgeshire Fenlands. Peter Corr has emphasized the swirling currents of water and mirrored cloud formations on the surface. The materials include oil, cold wax, bitumen, chalk paint, and pumice stone. This painting has a beautiful patina and surface depth.

« I believe passionately in the power of art to transform both ourselves, the way we think about the world, and the environment in which we live. »
Peter Corr has always been fascinated by the movement towards abstraction and the simplification of subject matter, form, and color. Most of his works occupy a transitional space between figuration and abstraction. Corr always conveys a tension between representational perspective and the canvas as a two-dimensional design. He does not describe a particular place, rather, he is interested in the role played by experiences, events, feelings, as well as the colors and textures that form the visual backdrop of our lives.
