About this artwork
Originally intended as part of his "Relationships" series, the artist decided to paint out a second figure on the right of the painting. The empty space next to the model was more suggestive, and in some ways more interesting.
The subjects for the artist's paintings were often amateur or inexperienced models who had replied to his adverts. They each had their own reasons for posing nude, and it was never just about the money.
