About this artwork
This work is inspired by the language of Antonin Artaud and his concept of the 'theater of cruelty', which says: [...] I use the word cruelty in the sense of lust for life, of cosmic relentlessness and merciless necessity, in the Gnostic sense of the vortex of life , which devours the darkness, in the sense of that pain, outside of whose inevitable necessity life would be impossible.
The never-ending need to have more and more is also cruel, as… is the everyday compulsion to reach for yet another crutch of consumption in order to keep existence bearable and to make one forget the meaninglessness.

Peter Feiler is an experienced painter and draftsman based in Germany whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Denmark, France, Turkey, Australia, etc. He views his art as a journey into an unknown world, while also being a critique of civilization, "touching the wound of social decline". Feiler's artisitc process fuses big gestures with fine details.
