In Peter Knauer's work, the endless expanse of the moor unfolds—a landscape marked by the traces of peat extraction yet permeated by timeless tranquility. Diverse shades of brown speak of the soil's history, while a golden evening sky bathes the scene in warm, almost sacred light. A still stream of water meanders its way through the surface, forming lines and transitions that guide the eye and give rhythm to the space.
The collage and… decollage technique lends the surface a tactile depth that invites the viewer to "feel" with their eyes. Isolation and silence become palpable, as if the landscape were holding its breath as the day draws to a close. Knauer's painting is not only a homage to nature, but also a pause—a moment in which transience and permanence merge.
