About this artwork
The work "Verweicht im Strom der Zeit II" was part of the "Squares and Triangles" exhibition at the Fitzrovia Gallery in London, which dealt with Fitzrovia's history as a meeting place for artists in search of new ways of seeing and living.
Peter Knauer's painting surrounds urban space. With a view to existing architectural forms, staircases and steps, he develops compositions from diverse layers of light and color that combine old and new, things… that are dissolving and things that are in the process of becoming.
He abstracts. Stairs and steps lead into the unknown, remain symbols. They are places of transition and change that challenge standpoints and require or enable the consideration of change from different perspectives.
