About this artwork
"Close Ties 2" Contemplates ties and connections. Two vertical forms are held in position by Camphor Laurel contrasting dove tail shaped wedges. The darker timber is Western Australian Jarrah, salaved and from a 300 year old tree. The finish is tung oil that has been burnished by hand.

Peter Kovacsy is an experienced Australian artist with international exposure. His contemporary, minimalist sculptures are created with various woods, metals, glass, and ceramics. Kovacsy's pieces are simplistic forms deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. Peter’s work has been featured in exhibitions at SOFA Chicago as well as many national and international collections including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Wesfarmers collection, and the Detroit Institute of Art.
