About this artwork
This painting is about Kali the Death Goddess. It relates to what is happening with the war in Ukraine. This Goddess wears a necklace of skulls. The writing in the painting says, How can we think with this above our heads. It is about babies being born to a world that is being ruined by war. These babies have the urge to be born but may die shortly after they are born. This is tragic and sad and I pray that the death will stop so new life can… be born into a peaceful world. This painting was made in 1990 but I think it relates to what is happening in Europe right now.
« Each painting I make is a search for a spiritual understanding of who I am as an artist and who I can become as a human being. »
Peter Locascio is an American artist whose works have been widely exhibited in the United States. He believes that creating art is more of a spiritual journey than a materialistic one. Locascio's compositions are inspired by Aboriginal, Native American, and Hindu art forms, etc. While some of his pieces convey narratives, others are simply whimsical. He favors painting with oils on canvas.
