About this artwork
I created this collage from torn magazines and Japanese hand painted paper. The portrait is of the iconic Marilyn Monroe, and has a strong light and dark influence. The title of ‘Super Trooper’ refers to the ABBA song of the search light beams lighting up her features reminiscent of the Italian Renaissance style – Chiaroscuro. Here the background and features become broken up forms in a multi faceted overlaying manner suggestive of her personal life…
broken by circumstances beyond her control. The picture is not framed and should not be displayed in direct sunlight although all canvases are varnished twice and have a coat of U.V. protection.
