About this artwork
The artist's devotion to painterly processes is evident in the rich, overlapping layers that create a remarkable sense of depth and texture.
Initially inspired by the very structure of language found on hotel stationery, this piece transcends its origins. The letters and numbers that may have sparked its creation have dissolved, leaving behind pure form and vibrant color. The significance now lies in the interplay of bold, dynamic brushwork, warm… tones of dark red and orange, and the haptic quality of the surface, creating an abstract expression of a city's energy.
This substantial piece, measuring 120 by 120 centimeters, is ready to hang and will make a striking statement in any contemporary or modern living space. Imagine it gracing a prominent wall in your home, adding a touch of vibrant, abstract sophistication. Bring the dynamic spirit of "Milan" into your collection today.

« In my work, I deal with pictures that already exist and liberate them from their originally intended narration and function. »
Starting from the symbols of our society - an increasingly psychologically scrutinized communication through text and images - Peter Vahlefeld breaks up the context of such familiar obviousness with artistic means and incorporates it into his painting. Some motifs mutate into completely abstract color spaces, while other pictures still reveal objective details such as typography or figurative elements. In his overpaintings he thus stages a dialectical relationship between the visible and the hidden and thus a beautiful game of hiding and revealing. His examination is focused on the expressive gesture of the medium, the process of painting and the exhaustion of a formal and content-related motif. His painting is painting about painting.
Peter Vahlefeld has participated in many solo exhibitions in Germany as well as in annual art fairs such as Art Karlsruhe.
