Ava - Afterlight revisits the solitary astronaut from Eclipsed Eternity through a new material language.
In the story, Ava is forced to release the stars and the knowledge that once defined her. Afterlight imagines what remains: fragments of colour, memory and light embedded in a weathered surface.
This sculpture began as a digitally developed character (blender), then was reworked by hand with clay and epoxy and finished with metallic acrylic… paints and iridescent pigments. The golden visor connects this interpretation to the original bronze Ava.
The piece is individually sculpted and hand-finished, making it a unique studio conceptual piece.
Ava is part of the original Eclipsed Eternity narrative audiobook.

Moving between storytelling, digital design and hand-sculpted form, Dutch artist Peter van der Linde combines contemporary tools with traditional sculptural processes.
Each work begins with a story and character design. Some figures are modelled directly by hand, while others are explored through digital 3D experimentation before taking physical form. Van der Linde then develops and reworks the sculptures by hand, using clay, epoxy, patina and metallic acrylic paint to build texture and character into the surface. Selected works are cast in bronze and individually patinated, while others remain as hand-finished mixed-media sculptures.
Many of his figures inhabit original narrative worlds, accompanied by audio stories that extend the sculpture beyond form into experience. Others stand alone, exploring recurring themes of memory, creation, decay, responsibility and our relationship with time.
