The Dancer is a unique mixed-media sculpture from Echoes in the Dark.
She dances not for an audience, but to keep the darkness away. Her movement becomes both expression and defence - fragile, repeated, and increasingly difficult to sustain. The elongated figure is surrounded by trailing forms that suggest motion continuing beyond the body itself.
Dark surfaces are interrupted by restrained metallic and turquoise accents, catching the light and… revealing different details from each viewpoint.
This unique work, 1/1, reflects recurring themes in my practice: endurance, transformation, fragility and the point at which balance begins to fail.

Dutch artist Peter van der Linde combines storytelling, digital design and hand-sculpted form with traditional sculptural processes.
Each work begins with a story and character design. Some figures are sculpted directly by hand, while others are designed digitally before taking physical form. Van der Linde then extensively reworks each sculpture by hand, using clay, epoxy, pigments, patina and metallic acrylics to build texture and character.
Selected works are cast in bronze using the lost wax method - and individually patinated, while others become unique, hand-finished mixed-media sculptures.
Many of Peter’s sculptures exist not only as physical works, but also as characters within original narrative worlds of his own creation, accompanied by audio stories he produces himself. Others form part of sculptural series exploring memory, creation, decay, responsibility and our relationship with time.
